About Montgomery County Housing Authority (MCHA)

The Montgomery County Housing Authority (MCHA), in partnership with community organizations, agencies and local governments, provides housing and homeownership opportunities for low and moderate income persons and families. It takes a leadership role in providing programs and resources for residents that promote and encourage self-sufficiency, self-esteem and self-determination. As you read about our programs and services, you will see that MCHA is indeed a multidimensional agency and is always looking for creative ways to meet housing needs in Montgomery County.

Additional Information

Since November 2015, the MCHA's HCVP has been closed for applicants due to an extensive waiting list and limited funding. The MCHA does not expect it to reopen until late 2017 or later. In November of 2015 when the HCVP Waiting List was open, approximately 16,000 people applied and the MCHA pulled 1,000 people in a lottery to be placed on the Waiting List. The MCHA’s Homeownership Program is only for participants of the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Their Public Housing Program provides housing in developments that the MCHA owns and operates in five locations. (Pottstown, Royersford, Conshohocken, Willow Grove and North Hills) There are four developments designed for seniors and/or disabled populations located in Pottstown (2), Royersford and Conshohocken. There are three General Occupancy communities, located in Pottstown, North Hills and Willow Grove.
